On Tuesday, October 18th, Franklin held a 'Celebration' assembly. This year, Franklin ran a very successful fundraising event for The Terry Fox Foundation. The school set a goal of $2, 000 to raise for the Terry Fox Foundation and ended up raising $4, 199.72! A challenge was set that if the students raised $1, 500, then teachers would have to kiss a dead fish!!! (Yuck) In addition to fish kissing, if the students raised $2, 000, then Mr. Milne, Mr. Young and Mr. Paddon would have their heads shaved!
The teachers held true to their end of the bargain and with special guests that day including Dave, Carlos and Laura from 91.5 The Beat (to name a few), a very fun assembly took place. Our class was in charge of organizing the assembly. Students showcased a few ways we 'celebrate' each other in class (ask your child to show you: a 'round' of applause, the honking goose, the dab and our fireworks cheers). We had a fabulous time being L.I.Ts (leaders in training). Way to go Room 5 (#geese4life). Your wonderful leadership throughout the Run was amazing. You planned, promoted, organized, participated in and celebrated a very successful Run. The photos and a few videos are slowly coming in and I will post them as I get them. Have a peek below.... ps. there is nothing quite like being 'thrown' into the Twitterverse/Twittersphere and making your debut with an awkward fish kiss lol (note: I can handle spiders, bugs, snakes...but fish are my 'ick' factor lol)
