Real, authentic learning opportunities are a powerful way for our students to connect with the world around them. To research, create and give these beautiful Malas was a wonderful life lesson. The Malas were delivered to the pediatric ward at Grand River Hospital (a huge thank you to Sophia's Mom, our elf). Below is the photo they included in a beautiful thank you email.
I could not be more proud of this class "#geese4life". As a teacher and a parent, my heart was very full this morning when I opened the email...to think of the joy these creative gifts will give sweet little souls at the hospital is really incredible. Wishing all of you a very Happy Holidays. I can't wait to see the learning adventures 2017 will bring! Warm regards, Madame Guy ps- if anyone caught our Holiday concert on video, I would love, love, love a copy. If it can be emailed, please send it to: [email protected] THANKS! For more photos..check our recently updated 'PHOTO' section! Get ready to have a ball at our Holiday Concert. Update: We had our first dress rehearsal this morning. Our final dress rehearsal is first thing tomorrow morning (tuesday@9:25am), so students are encouraged to wear their costumes (Holiday colours, sunglasses and holiday themed funny hat) to school. We will present at the first assembly on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21st at 9:30am. Our dance is called "Silento Night" and I am going to attempt to attach the audio clip, so your child can practice at home. The moves are fun and very repetitive ( I challenge YOU to give them a try) ;) Some pre-concert tips to help your child: 1. Quiet off stage ( stand frozen, in a 'mannequin challenge' stillness, when not dancing). 2. Show enthusiam and energy when on stage. 3. Have your costume with you the day of the show. 4. Have fun (when you are having fun, your audience will have fun too). 5. Eye contact. Look at your audience! Good eye contact engages your viewers and shows confidence!
A few reminders:Please send in your child's SECRET SANTA gift. The gift exchange will happen on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22nd, first block.
The last day of school is FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23rd, 2016 We will resume classes on MONDAY, JANUARY, 9th, 2017 Last week our writing focus was: "How to write friendly letters'. We learned the 5 parts of the friendly letter (heading/date, greeting, body, closing and signature), wrote rough drafts and today we wrote our 'good copy' on beautiful stationary that was donated by one of our "#geese4life" parents. :) Please ask your child about his/her letter. The letters have been sent home to be given to the family member. Secret Santa lettersWe've begun our 8 days of 'Secret Santa' letters( Dec 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21). Your child drew the name of a classmate last week and is invited to write a daily clue to their classmate. We will open presents at our GIFT EXCHANGE on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2016. Have a peek at our photo section for recent photos capturing our learning adventures...
