Today, there was an exciting announcement from the the leadership group that Crazy Hair Day is tomorrow! What a fun way to kick start the month of December! woo hoo!
On Thursday, November 30th, the students in Room 5 along with many of the other Grade 4 classes in the school, will be hosting a Comic-Con! This will take place in the gym between 12:00pm-2:00pm, allowing for all of the classes in the school to tour and check out all of the students’ hard work. If you would like to come and stop by, feel free. This week we will be working on our superhero costumes (as we will be dressed up as the superhero we have created!). We will be crafting from old materials to create our costumes, if you have any old clothing, material, cardboard etc. that can be cut and crafted into new costumes, please send them in with your child ASAP.
Thank you for your support! When days are hot, or in this case- when days are COLD! :)
The grade 3s will begin their 'Swim to Survive' program tomorrow (Mon, Nov 27th). Please pack a towel and swim suit. This week our focus is being responsible and ready to learn. What that looks like is: writing in our planners, having our planners signed, taking our planners OUT of our backpacks and showing Madame our planners in the morning. It also means having pencils, markers and/or coloured pencil crayons so that we are ready to learn! Our classroom pencils go missing very quickly, so it is very valuable for your child to have his or her own stash to use. Thank you in advance! :)
Progress Reports were a time to celebrate, reflect and set goals. We have been learning about "S.M.A.R.T" goal setting and multiple intelligences. Your child completed a self assessment that allowed them to see what their preferred learning style/'smart' is. Most students (and adults) have 2-3 areas that really stand out. Surveys will go home by the end of the month, I encourage you to have a peek at the questions, discuss the results with your kiddo and have fun seeing if your 'smarts' match up with theirs. :)
Tonight you will find your child's Progress Report in their agenda. In addition, you will see two interview sign up sheets. To get a phone call or meet with Mrs. Padiath, please fill out the pink sheet, to get a phone call or meet with Mme. Guy, please fill out the blue sheet. There is a large selection of dates and times to choose from. Please fill out the form and return it by Wed Nov 15th.
This week we have been focusing on the first part of our daily cheer. Did you know that we start our day with a very enthusiastic motto? Ask your child to demonstrate the "Respectful, Responsible, Ready 2 Learn" cheer :)
Saying the word is wonderful, but our actions can mean more than our words. So, what does being respectful look like? Here at school, we have been working at walking in the halls quietly, listening to others when they are speaking, waiting our turn, respecting a classmate's personal space, raising our hand in class and staying in our seats during seat work. Tomorrow, our Remembrance Day assembly will be another way that we show respect. Parent Connect: Ask your child what respect means to them? Brainstorm ways that you show respect for each other in your household and encourage them to set a goal. I saw this quote a few days ago-a fabulous reminder to always stop, drop(down to their sight line) and listen. Respecting their thoughts, dreams and worries is a wonderful way to show we care. To celebrate the fact that Franklin Public School collected over 1, 000 pairs of socks for 'Socktober' there will be a PJ and crazy sock day tomorrow (Friday, Nov 3).
