I love what I do. Inspiring future leaders (Who are we? L.I.T) and making learning 'fun'. I love what I do, but I don't do it alone. I have a great team of parents and educators that work alongside me to make each year engaging and memorable. At 'Meet the Teacher' I was asked what I, the teacher, was looking forward to most this year...my answer "The learning adventures that this group will co-create and having FUN making those memories." To quote Mary Poppins "a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down". When learning is "fun" aka engaging and students feel loved, supported and valued- nothing is impossible. This is my 16th year of teaching and I have to say that this class photo is a first! Picture day is a very formal process, but this year we took a chance. When a student had brought in fun props, my initial reaction was 'No, we aren't allowed to use those'. After thinking 'Why not?' I asked our Lifetouch Rep if it could be done. I took a chance and using persuasive language and a respectful manner, I was able to get permission for the silly outtake. As teachers and parents we are role modelling every moment of every day (which can be rewarding, but also very humbling). After our fun photo, I debriefed with the class and reminded them that if we don't ever ask, we will never know if it could be possible. In our 6 weeks together, we have organized a school wide event, had a blast on a field trip, earned 2 rock celebrations and had a Picture Day first! :) I cannot wait to see what the rest of the school year brings! :) Huron Natural AreaUpcoming events:
